Emails and notifications
Every email Ivy Link sends you, when it arrives, what it asks you to do, and how to change or stop the ones you can.
Ivy Link sends a small number of emails. Most are about your account: signing in, your report, your balance. Every email comes from Ivy Link. Most link to the page in the app where you can act on them.
There is no general notification settings page. The only email you can configure is the weekly report. The balance emails stop on their own once your balance is healthy or auto top-up is on.

Sign-in links
Ivy Link has no passwords. To sign in, you enter your email on the Sign in page and Ivy Link emails you a link. A link is only sent if the address belongs to an Ivy Link account.
- Subject: Sign in to Ivy Link.
- The link works once and expires in 20 minutes.
- Open it on the device you want to sign in on.
- If you didn't ask to sign in, you can ignore the email.
After you ask for a link, the page says Check your email. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder, then use Send another link. To try another address, use Use a different email.
You can get up to 5 links an hour and 10 a day. Past that, the page still says Check your email, but no new link is sent until the hour or day has passed. If there have been a lot of sign-in requests from your network, the page asks you to wait a minute and try again. A signed-in session lasts 30 days.
Signing in with an emailed link also verifies your email address. Some settings, like weekly report delivery, need a verified address.
See Sign up for more on getting into your account.
Welcome email
Subject: Welcome to Ivy Link: getting your site set up
You get this once, a few minutes after you sign up and pay. It goes to the email you signed up with. It lists three setup steps:
- Sign in at app.ivyl.ink/signin with the email you signed up with.
- Open app.ivyl.ink/onboarding: add your search data, confirm your sitemap, choose your report depth and tell us about your site, then select Build my report. Or select Skip the report to start your agents with a budget. See Build your first report.
- Connect your site's GitHub repo in Settings > Connections, so your agents can send changes as pull requests. You can do this while your report builds. See GitHub.
If you told us which searches matter most when you signed up, the email repeats them. It also reminds you of the refund: if Ivy Link isn't a fit, reply within 30 days of your first payment for a full refund. Replies go to Ivy Link support. See Cancel and refund.
Report ready
Subject: Your report for your domain is ready
You get this once, when your report is released to you. It goes to the email you signed up with. It includes the report's headline and a link to app.ivyl.ink/report, where you choose the work to do first.
If some parts of the report couldn't be finished, the email lists up to 5 of them. The report itself says what's missing.
If Ivy Link runs your report again at no charge, the subject is Your updated report for your domain is ready instead.
See Your first report and Report.
Weekly report
Subject: Your weekly report for your site is ready
Each weekly report covers one completed week, Monday to Sunday. The email shows the dates and a Read weekly report button that opens the report in the app. It also says: if Ivy Link needs your input, you'll find the details in Decisions.
Ivy Link makes each weekly report early on Monday, for the week that just ended. Weeks run Monday to Sunday in UTC. Your first one covers the most recent completed week at the time you click Build my report or Skip the report during onboarding, as long as your site was added before that week ended. Earlier weeks aren't filled in. See Weekly reports. With the default delivery setting, Ivy Link checks it before it's released and emailed, so it can arrive later in the week.
Who gets it
The email goes to one verified sign-in address on your account. By default that's the first address on the account that was verified. When you save your delivery setting, your own verified sign-in address becomes the recipient. If no address is verified yet, Current recipient says no verified address and no weekly email is sent. Sign in with an emailed link to fix that.
Change how weekly reports are sent
- Go to app.ivyl.ink/weekly-reports. It isn't in the sidebar. You can also reach it from the Read weekly report button in any weekly email, or from Weekly reports at the bottom of Decisions.
- Under Email delivery, find Send weekly reports.
- Choose one:
- After Ivy Link review (the default). Ivy Link checks each report before it's released and emailed.
- Automatically each week. Each report is released and emailed without waiting for review. This applies to future weekly reports.
- Click Save delivery.
The page confirms Report delivery saved. Site and data permissions are unchanged. The line Current recipient shows which address gets the email.
This setting only controls the weekly email. It doesn't change what your agents can do on your site or with your data.
If the page says Verify your sign-in email before changing report delivery., sign out and sign in again with an emailed link. That verifies your address. Then come back.
There is no setting to turn weekly report emails off. Your reports are always on the Weekly reports page. If you don't want the email, write to hello@ivyl.ink.
The list of reports shows only released reports, each marked Released. A report waiting for Ivy Link review doesn't appear until it's released. The list doesn't show whether a report's email was sent. See Weekly reports.
See Weekly reports.
Balance emails
Ivy Link is prepaid. Your agents' work comes out of your credit balance. Two emails warn you when the balance runs low. Both go to the email you signed up with and link to Billing.
Your Ivy Link balance is low
Sent when your balance, after the next job, would cover less than about a week of your agents' work at your current budget. The email shows your balance in credits. There's no fixed dollar amount: a week of work depends on your plan and your site's size.
What to do: add credits on Billing, or turn on auto top-up.
Your Ivy Link agents are paused
Sent when your balance doesn't cover your agents' next job. Your agents stop. They keep the effort level you chose rather than doing cheaper work. They start again as soon as you add credits.
What to do: add credits on Billing.
How often you get them
- You get each email once per dip. It won't repeat every time a job runs.
- When your balance recovers, both reset. If it dips again later, you'll get them again.
- Neither is sent while auto top-up is on and working, because it refills your balance instead.
- Neither is sent for a site on Enterprise, because Ivy Link pays for that work.
Stop low-balance and paused emails
- Go to Billing.
- Add credits, or turn on auto top-up.
While auto top-up is on and working, you won't get these emails. See Credits, Budgets and Billing.
Auto top-up failed
Subject: Auto top-up is off: your card wasn't charged
Sent to the email you signed up with when your balance fell below your auto top-up threshold but Ivy Link couldn't add credits. This happens when your card is declined, needs extra authentication, or no card is saved. The email says how much it tried to add and why it failed.
Auto top-up is then switched off, so nothing else is charged. Billing shows the reason too.
What to do:
- Go to Billing.
- Add credits or update your card.
- Turn auto top-up back on.
Once auto top-up is off, the low-balance and paused emails can start again if your balance dips.
Enterprise emails
These only apply if a site is on Enterprise. Both go to the email you signed up with.
Enterprise has started is sent when Enterprise starts on a site. It says your agents run on Canopy, the most thorough plan. Ivy Link pays for their work and reports on that site, and your SEO expert checks each idea before it reaches you. Your credits stay for your other sites. If that site's agents are off, the email links to Settings so you can turn them on.
Enterprise has ended is sent when Enterprise ends on a site. It says the subscription is cancelled, if there was one. That site's agents go back to your earlier plan and are turned off, so nothing is charged to your credits until you turn them on again in Settings.
Other emails
- Receipts. Payments are processed by Stripe. The bottom of Billing shows the address receipts go to, in the line Receipts go to. To change your billing details, use Edit billing details there. If you don't see that button, email hello@ivyl.ink.
- Price changes. We give you at least 30 days' notice by email before any price change. See the terms.
- Changes to the terms. If we make a material change to the terms, we email you before it takes effect.
- Replies. Replies to the welcome and weekly report emails go to Ivy Link support. You can always write to hello@ivyl.ink.
If an email doesn't arrive
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Make sure you're looking at the inbox for the email you signed up with.
- For a sign-in link, use Send another link. Each link expires after 20 minutes, and you can get at most 5 an hour and 10 a day.
- For a weekly report, open Weekly reports and check Current recipient. Every report is on that page whether or not the email arrived.
