FAQ

Short answers about credits, budgets, agents, approving changes, your data, results, Enterprise and cancelling.

Getting started

A team of AI agents that does your SEO around the clock. They check your site every day, research what it's missing, write up fixes and new pages for you to approve, and keep the data behind your pages fresh. See How Ivy Link works.

What do you need from me?

Your website and your Search Console data, either an export or a connection. Connect your site's GitHub repo if you want fixes to arrive as pull requests. Not on GitHub, like WordPress, Webflow or Shopify? The agents write each fix as a prompt you paste into your site builder or AI tool. See Search Console and GitHub.

Do I need a report first?

No, it's optional. A report shows where your site stands and what to fix first. It comes in three depths, paid from your credits:

Depth Price
Mini 10 credits ($10)
Standard 60 credits ($60)
Large 120 credits ($120)

You can also pick Skip the report — start agents with a budget during onboarding. The agents then get to know your site on their own. You can build a report any time from Report. See Report depths.

Billing and credits

How do credits work?

Credits are prepaid, and 1 credit is $1. Reports and agent work spend from your balance. You start with as little as $10. Add credits on Billing with Add credits, any amount from $10 to $500. Credits don't expire while your account is active. You don't pay for a report attempt that failed or was cancelled without producing a report. Your card is stored by Stripe, never on Ivy Link. See Credits.

Is there a contract or a subscription?

There's no contract. Credits are prepaid: you add them when you need them, and you can stop any time, with no monthly charge. Enterprise is an optional $1,000-a-month subscription for one site, which you cancel on Billing, and some older accounts still have a monthly plan. See Enterprise and Cancel and refunds. Pages Ivy Link publishes on your site stay yours.

What happens when my credits run out?

The agents pause and we tell you. Home shows Agents paused, and you get an email titled "Your Ivy Link agents are paused". The free daily checks keep running.

Add credits, or turn on auto top-up, and the agents start again on their own as soon as your balance covers the next job. They never switch to cheaper work to fit a small balance. A short balance means waiting, not worse work.

Can my balance top itself up?

Yes. On Billing, switch on Auto top-up, fill in "When my balance falls below $__ add $__ from my saved card", and click Save. The threshold can be $5–$500 and the amount $10–$500. The defaults are below $10, add $50. You need a saved card first. Auto top-up runs at most 5 times in 24 hours.

If a top-up fails, for example because the card is declined, auto top-up turns itself off, Billing shows why, and you get an email. Nothing more is charged until you turn it back on.

Budgets

What's the difference between my budget and my balance?

Your balance is the credits you've paid for. Your budget is how fast agents may spend from it. You set the budget per site in Settings, under Agents:

Plan Credits a month Work quality
Seedling 10 Basic
Sprout 30 Standard
Climb 100 High
Canopy 300 Best
Custom Any whole number an hour, day, week or month Set by the amount

A bigger budget buys more frequent and more careful work, never cheaper work. Each plan card shows what it buys on a site your size: Reviews, Pages per run, Whole site, Research and Credits used. Some deeper work, such as the design check and review that follow a full crawl of your site, only runs on a budget of at least 100 credits a month. See Budgets.

Can I change or pause my budget?

Yes, any time. Pick another plan and click Save. You see "Saved. Agents follow the new settings from their next job." To pause, pick Off and click Save. Nothing runs or spends on that site after that. Reports you've ordered still run.

I have several sites. How is that billed?

All your sites share one balance. Each site has its own budget, and one site's work never uses another site's budget. A new site starts with its agents off, so it never spends until you pick its plan. See Sites.

Agents

What runs for free?

Daily checks of your search numbers and site health, page speed tests and site crawls, sitemap and indexing updates, and a check that your data is fresh. These never touch your balance and keep running when your credits run out.

They do need agents on. With a budget of 0 (Off), nothing runs, free checks included.

Speed tests and crawls repeat every month up to Sprout, every two weeks at Climb, and every week at Canopy.

How do I see what the agents are doing?

Open Agents. Everyone shows everything your agents did, newest first. Click an agent to see just its messages. Notices at the top say why any work is waiting and what to do about it. Home also shows what's running Now, what Needs you, and the plan for This week. See The Agents page and Meet the agents.

Why is work waiting when I have credits?

Your budget paces the work. When it's used up for now, the agents wait and tell you, for example "The budget is paced for now; more work starts in about N hours." Work you've approved goes first. To speed things up, raise the budget in Settings.

Changes to your site

Do the agents change my site on their own?

Not by default, except daily data files. They propose ideas first, and by default nothing starts until you approve it on Approvals. Code changes come as pull requests you merge, and the agents only work within the access you give them. The one exception is daily data: if your site has a dataset, Data updates is set to Automatic by default, so Ivy Link commits the day's data files in data/ to your repo each day without a pull request. Set Data updates to Pull request or Paused in Settings > Connections if you want to review it first. See Approve work and Data.

You can choose to let agents start their own ideas. On Approvals, click Change next to New ideas:. In Settings, pick Start without asking and click Save new ideas. Your report's actions still wait for you.

Changed your mind? On Results, click Move back or Drop on an approved item, until an agent starts on it.

How do changes reach my site?

It depends on your site access setting and whether GitHub is connected:

Site access What happens
Prompts only Each fix is a prompt on Results. Click Copy prompt, paste it into your site builder, then click I made this change.
Pull requests Ivy Link opens a pull request. You review it and click Merge on Results, or merge it on GitHub.
Pull requests, merged for you Ivy Link merges each pull request once every check on it passes. Each one stays on GitHub so you can revert it.

Without GitHub connected, everything arrives as prompts. See Ship changes.

Your data

Is my data shared with other customers?

No. Your site's search data, repository and dataset are used only for your site, and agents working on your site can't see anyone else's. Ivy Link keeps up to 16 months of your search data. Disconnect Search Console and it deletes the search data it copied. See Search Console.

What does data collection give me?

A dataset for your site, kept fresh. Ivy Link collects the public data your pages need on a schedule and stores it, with its history. The agents build pages and tools on it and keep them current. See Datasets and daily data.

Some data work isn't ready yet. If an approved item on Results says "Not available yet", Ivy Link can't collect data for that page yet. It stays approved, and we email you when it can start.

Results and rankings

How soon will rankings move?

New pages are usually indexed within days to a few weeks. Rankings typically move over one to three months, depending on your site and your competition. That's a typical range, not a promise: search engines and AI assistants decide rankings on their own, and Ivy Link can't guarantee specific rankings, traffic or results (terms).

How do I know if a change worked?

Pip measures each shipped change 7 days and 28 days after it goes live. For a search, it compares weekly clicks and position with before. For a page fix, it checks whether the problem is gone. You see the result on Home under Done lately and in the Agents feed. Each one ends Recovered., Regressed. or, at 7 days only, Too early to call. These are observed before-and-after numbers. They don't prove the change caused the difference.

Weekly reports add stored search, work and data facts for each week. They aren't in the sidebar. Open them from Read weekly report in the weekly email, from the Weekly reports link on Decisions, or at app.ivyl.ink/weekly-reports. See Results and Weekly reports.

Will Google penalize pages written with AI?

Google's spam policies target low-value pages made at scale, however they're produced. Ivy Link builds fewer, focused pages around real data and tools that are genuinely useful to your customers.

Does this help with ChatGPT and AI answers too?

The pages that do well in Google, specific and backed by real numbers, are the kind AI assistants tend to cite. That's the kind of page Ivy Link builds. As with search, citations aren't guaranteed.

Enterprise

What is Enterprise?

A per-site plan at $1,000 a month. Ivy Link pays for all of that site's agent work and reports, so it never uses your credits. Its agents run on Canopy, the most thorough plan, and an SEO expert at Ivy Link checks every agent idea before it reaches you. Your credits stay for your other sites. See Enterprise.

How do I start or cancel Enterprise?

Open Settings for the site and scroll to Enterprise. Click Start Enterprise to pay in Stripe, or tell us about your site and click Talk to us. We email you within one business day. If you don't see Start Enterprise, use Talk to us and we set it up with you.

To cancel, click Cancel Enterprise and confirm in Stripe. It stays active until the end date shown under Billing, for example "Ends" and a date. When it ends, the site goes back to its earlier plan with agents switched off. Turn them on when you're ready, and work is paid from your credits again.

Cancelling and refunds

How do I stop paying?

Turn agents off on each site (pick Off in Settings and click Save), and switch Auto top-up off on Billing. After that, nothing is charged. Unused credits stay on your account while it's active. See Cancel, pause and refunds.

What if it isn't right for me?

Email hello@ivyl.ink from the address you signed up with, within 30 days of your first payment, and we'll refund it in full. Your account closes with the refund. This applies once per customer. Other payments aren't refunded, except where the law requires it.

Still stuck? See Troubleshooting, or email hello@ivyl.ink.
